What is RochesterCares?

RochesterCares is an emerging affiliate of the City Cares / Hands On Network of agencies. These organizations are designed to help bridge the gap between agencies in need and volunteers looking to help out.

Hands On Network organizations, known as “Cares” or “Hands On” organizations, engage over 350,000 volunteers in direct service to their communities each year. In cities large and small, 42 Hands On Network organizations have been established in the U.S., as well as international organizations in the Philippines, China, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, where 27 members organizations of Business In the Community are also based on the Hands On Network model for volunteerism.

Hands On Network was formed in 1992 to serve as the umbrella organization for local Hands On Network groups. The primary mission of Hands On Network is to provide support for, and strengthen, the existing Hands On Network network, while fostering the development of new Hands On Network organizations. With proven best practices for success, Hands On Network develops entrepreneurial strategies for bridging community resources and needs. Hands On Network provides leading-edge national programming, participation in shaping national service policy and technology support.
